Christopher ElderPresident and CFO
“Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.” Theodore Roosevelt
Chris has worked in construction all his life. As soon as he was old enough to lift a hammer, he was swinging it along side his Dad, brother Patrick and lifelong friend Austin. Beginning as a laborer, Chris has played an active role in every aspect of Elder Construction. He inherited a fundamental understanding of the construction business from his father, Tom, who taught him that it’s not only the construction of a stunning building that defines the success of a project — the creation of a solid reputation and relationships within the community matter above all else. Chris is passionate about ensuring the family values of Elder Construction are demonstrated during each aspect of the construction process, with a focus on people and the community.
After obtaining a Business and Construction Management degree from Colorado State University, Chris gained experience in estimating, project supervision, project management, and business development. He served in the role of Vice President and CFO before becoming President of the company in 2017. Chris’s passion for his team, community and clients drives him as he continues to lead the strategic vision for Elder Construction.
Apart from work, Chris enjoys hiking, fly-fishing, skiing, backpacking and rafting in the Colorado mountains with his wife Courtney, son Jackson and their yellow lab, Aspen. Chris also likes to literally bring his work home by tinkering on his 70-year-old home near Old Town Fort Collins where he can be found most evenings with a hammer in his hand.
