This project turned from a simple interior finish upgrade into an extraordinary historic renovation. During construction, workers discovered an original time capsule buried in the exterior walls. The time capsule was a sealed liquor bottle with the original Christmas 1890 groundbreaking written on the back of a worker’s timecard. This three-story multi-housing unit houses teachers from all over the world to accommodate them as they teach classes at Colorado College. The renovation consisted of structural reinforcement, demolition throughout the unit, fire separations between each living space, and all new MEP’s/finishes.
