Carpenter In-Training

Carpenters perform a wide variety of carpentry work such as installing subfloors, temporary enclosures, partitions, studs, joints, drywall, door frames, backing and blocking. Interior work may include installation of toilet accessories, millwork, custom cabinetry, stairs, railings, trims, molding, doors and hardware. Carpenters perform exterior and interior finish work.  This position directly reports to the Project Superintendent or Foreman.
Project types include general commercial construction. Prospective candidates must be experienced in skilled labor and take pride in their work. Attention to detail will be demanded. A willingness to learn and hard-working ethic is necessary.

DUTIES:

The general purpose of the Carpenter In-Training is to perform some tasks requiring skilled labor and basic carpentry skills. These tasks may include, but are not limited to:
  • Ability to work at elevated heights.
  • Ability to read and utilize a tape measure proficiently.
  • Knowledge of most hand-held power tools (skill saw, saws all, grinder, etc.)
  • Knowledge of most hand tools (hammer, speed square, nail puller, chalk line etc.)
  • Daily clean-up of work areas.
  • Basic knowledge of construction safety and Personal Protective Equipment.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 2-4 years of construction experience preferred. Personally furnish all hand tools to perform the tasks listed above, valid driver’s license, clean driving records, and provide own transportation. Must be willing and able to pass a drug test and criminal background search.
