Education

Elder Construction has been a school district source of choice for cost-effective and efficient space solutions. We have assisted school districts with classroom buildings and other facilities such as administration buildings, bus maintenance facilities, athletic venues — even simple field storage sheds.

Case Study
The Classical Academy (TCA), operating under Academy School District 20, has become one of Colorado’s top charter schools. In 2007, TCA’s east campus, which consisted of a humble mobile building farm, was discovered to have black mold. Immediately students were sent to far-flung locations to continue their classes. TCA needed new space — now — and sent requests for proposals for a design-build solution for a 40,000-square-foot K-8 building.

Elder Construction created a cost-effective solution based on a pre-engineered steel frame. With a quick construction schedule and a budget of just over $100/square foot, Elder won the bid. As with most projects, changes were made. TCA developed a partnership with Pikes Peak Community College and the building morphed from a K-8 facility to a groundbreaking K-College facility with 85,000 square feet of space.

Once land negotiations were completed, Elder was released to start construction in November 2008. By August 2009 the new structure was ready to receive its first K-8 students, on time and under budget.

It is indelibly clear, the professionalism and performance of Elder Construction allowed us to accelerate our schedule, save hundreds of thousands of dollars and still gain a remarkable high-quality facility.”
